Book Thoughts: Darkest Night, Brightest Day (Machowski)

  • 14-day family devotional surrounding Easter
  • beautiful illustrations and layout
  • each day includes a story to read and all the Scripture it comes from – plus discussion questions

Type: family devotional
Ages: 3+
Author: Marty Machowski
Illustrator: Phil Schorr

The idea is to work through the first “dark” week in the days approaching Easter. It would end with Jesus dying and placed in the tomb. Then, beginning on the glorious, wonderful day of Easter, the second week of devotionals would cover his resurrection and the days subsequent, up through the day of Pentecost. However, the book can be begun any time and isn’t restricted to that schedule by any means.

If you’re unsure of how to elevate the importance of, or simply expound on, Easter in your family worship time, this could be a great start. It’s very readable and remains true to Scripture. Excellent resource!
