Readers will immediately connect to the characters in this one. It is an excellent sequel to Blackthorn Winter, and I might have even liked it better! John, our main character, is fortunate to have solid Christian parents. His dad, in particular, was a joy to me. The relationship between John and Thomas is very special. Thomas has wisdom, and his son is receptive to it. Their banter at times made me laugh, too. A great mix of humor and seriousness.
If you’re like me and you are constantly pre-reading your children’s books, then you forgot about the family’s secret in book 1 (ha). Yep, I did. Well, that secret is tied into this book’s storyline and adds lovely depth to it. I don’t want to give it away!
Now I’m really looking forward to reading the third and fourth books of this series. Stay tuned…
